Beautiful Homes, Inc. features only the highest quality stair parts including Amish Crafted Handrail. Unlike most competitor's handrail, our handrail has no unsightly finger joints or butt joints. Our Amish craftsmen start by sight inspection of each piece of wood that is used in the handrail. This wood is then sent through a planer and inspected for knots, cracks or other imperfections. Four pieces of wood is vertically stacked and glued and placed in the rack for drying. Unlike many producers, our handrail remains in the rack for 16 hours or longer. Once the handrail "blank" is removed from the rack, it is sent through a molder to create the handrail. This method eliminates unsightly finger joints and butt joints. Once the handrail is removed from the molder, it is again inspected, hand-sanded and boxed for shipment. Our Amish crafted handrail is inspected at every step along the path to shipment. In the 6115 Handrail Series, we offer fittings in Brazilian Cherry,Red Oak., White Oak, Hickory, Maple, and American Cherry. In addition, we offer bending and plowed handrail in both the 6010 and 6115 handrail series.
Plowed handrail is a process whereby a small section is cut out from the bottom of the handrail so that square balusters can fit into the bottom of the handrail. Fillet is then put into the sections between the balusters and glued into place to help hold the balusters securely.
Bending handrail is used on curved stairways. The process of making bending handrail involves vertically slicing handrail into sections. These sections are glued and clamped into a mold and bent to fit the stairway. Once the glue has completely dried, the handrail will retain the "bent" shape. Bending handrail is generally not recommended to the do-it-yourselfer. The process of installing it is more complex than the average do-it-yourselfer can handle. Many do-it-yourselfers will install part of the stairway themselves and hire a contractor to do the bending handrail.
