FCW-4091: Forest Character White Oak 6-1/4" x 53" Hollow Box Newel
What kind of wood is used in our "Forest Character" newels?
The material utilized is live-sawn white oak, which imparts character to the product as long as it does not compromise its structural integrity. Character, along with some quarter and rift flake, is considered normal and even desirable for live-sawn white oak. Consequently, we do not grade it for character when we receive it. The presence of character is not considered a low-quality characteristic; rather, it is intentionally cut in this manner to achieve the desired live-sawn appearance.
