	The 6420 ball top 3 1/4" newel post is part of the Monroe Collection.  These newel posts feature elegant turnings that are traditional/transitional in nature.  The 6420 features a six inch block toward the top where handrail is affixed.  It's counterpart, the 6430 features a twelve inch block toward the top and is often used on landings or at the top of a staircase after a long handrail run.  The long block allows the stair builder to have the handrail enter the newel posts at one height and leave the newel post at a different height.  The 6420 small block newel posts matches both the model 5300 and model 5380balusters.
